Karan Bhalla died by suicide at his residence in New Delhi’s Rohini area a month ago. His family has alleged that he was being blackmailed by three individuals, including a Haryanvi singer.
In response to the alleged circumstances surrounding Karan Bhalla’s death, hundreds of his supporters and members of the Gujjar community staged a protest in the national capital on Thursday. Demonstrators blocked the vital DND flyway connecting Delhi and Noida, causing severe traffic congestion and leaving commuters stranded for hours. Police deployed at the site worked to divert vehicles to alternate routes, and the DND was eventually reopened by late evening.
Protesters demanded a thorough and impartial investigation into Karan Bhalla’s death. Holding placards and shouting slogans, they criticized authorities for delaying action against the accused named in the family's complaint. “Karan Bhalla was pushed beyond his limits. We want justice, and we want it now,” one protester said.
Karan Bhalla’s family has remained vocal about the mental and emotional trauma he reportedly endured in the weeks before his death. According to them, he was harassed and extorted by the accused. They have submitted audio clips and message logs they believe substantiate their claims.
Amid growing public pressure, Delhi Police announced that the crime branch has taken over the investigation and is treating the Karan Bhalla case as a priority. Officials assured the public that all possible angles are being explored and pledged a fair and timely resolution.
Meanwhile, Gujjar community leaders have warned of escalating demonstrations if swift action is not taken. “This is bigger than Karan Bhalla. It's about justice and protecting others from the same fate,” a community representative stated.
